National Football League logo

[edit] Fair use for National Football League

Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  • The image is only being used for informational purposes.
  • The image adds significantly to the National Football League article because it is used to identify the subject of the article.
  • No free equivalent is available or could be created since this is a copyrighted logo.

[edit] Fair use for National Football League player conduct controversy

Under the same rationale for National Football League, this article quotes the commissioner referring to "the shield." Since the commissioner's words use something other than a generic term, like the "NFL logo," it is appropriate to illustrate "the shield" to properly understand the commissioner's statement.—Twigboy 02:39, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use for History of American football

It is believed that the use of this copyright image in the article History of American football represents fair use because:

  1. It is low resolution
  2. No free equivalent is known to exist
  3. Its use does not financially affect the copyright holder
  4. It is being used to illustrate critical historical commentary of the entity which the depicted logo represents.
