Narumi-sensei is the homeroom teacher of Class B of the elementary division. He is rarely in the classroom and he often leaves his job to the substitute teacher. He teaches Japanese and he has a hobby of dressing up in strange outfits. Not a lot of students respect him, especially Natsume, but they listen to him because they don't want to be victims of his pheromone Alice.
As two suspicious guys were trying to deceive Mikan, Narumi saved her by using his Alice on the guys. This was the time he and Mikan first met. Mikan had mistaken him for a girl because of his control devices. Narumi tried to use his Alice on Mikan and told her to go home, but, to his surprise, his Alice didn't affect her one bit. Because of this, Narumi suspected her to have an Alice.[1][2]
Through Narumi's help, Mikan was able to get into the Academy and finally meet Hotaru. But before Mikan could be officially enrolled, he told her to be friends with the whole class within one week. Natsume gave her a challenge and she managed to complete it and found out about her Alice as well. Narumi told Mikan that her Alice was special. He later assigned Natsume to be Mikan's partner.
When he was a student at Alice Academy, he was a Special Star student and he also did missions for the Academy like Natsume. He was the upperclassman that Reo looked up to.
Later in the manga, it is revealed that he harbored unrequited feelings for Mikan's mother. It was also proven that he is not Mikan's father, but he made a promise to Mikan's mother that he will take care of Mikan during her stay in the Academy.
During the Christmas party, Narumi has been afflicted by the Mark of Death Alice caused by Persona. He is treated as a traitor by both the Elementary School Principal and Persona. The Mark of Death is slowly eating him, but he keeps this a secret from Mikan.Mikan later find out and tries to suck out the poison with her stealing alice. Narumi slaps her telling Mikan not to do it, but Mikan does it anyway.
Aware of the Elementary Principal's intention on Mikan, he plans on taking Mikan away from the Academy because he doesn't want his 'daughter' to be in danger. He doesn't want Mikan to walk the same path as her mother did, and he's trying to keep his promise to Yuka that he will protect Mikan no matter what.

Narumi appears to be a humorous and cheerful teacher, though he is annoying to some people like Misaki-sensei and Natsume. Nar from his name actually means Narcissistic, which he is undeniably. He cares a lot about his students, especially Mikan. He also worries for Natsume and believes that Mikan is the key to the Academy. He likes to steal bean whips from his friend's greenhouse and he's often scolded because of that. He also comes up with the weirdest ideas for plays and he just enjoys dressing up.

[edit] Mikan Sakura
Mikan is the most precious student to Narumi-sensei. The main reason here is because Mikan is the daughter of his senpai, Yuka Azumi. Narumi can see Yuka in Mikan, because they are very alike in terms of personality and looks. He watches over Mikan and protects her, as what he has promised to Yuka. He stands as the father-figure of Mikan, and she calls him father because she misses her grandfather. Narumi considered himself too young to be a grandfather, so Narumi asks Mikan to call him dad instead.[3][4]
Narumi gets infected by Persona's Alice during the Christmas Party. The Elementary School Principal wanted to use Narumi to get Mikan to use her Steal Alice. Not wanting to put Mikan in danger, he kept the infection a secret from her. But Mikan finds out about this later and helps out Narumi, much to his protest. However, Jinno-sensei knocks some sense into him and lets Mikan continue using her Alice on Narumi. With the help of Mikan, Narumi is eventually cured and he is thankful for her hard work and her strong will power.
[edit] Yuka Azumi
Yuka is Narumi's senior during her time in the Academy. The two of them are actually good friends. He fell in love with Yuka, but his feelings were never returned, because Yuka was in love with a teacher who eventually becomes Mikan's father. Before Yuka left the Academy, she made a promise with Narumi and that is for Narumi to remain in the Academy and change it from the inside, while she will carry on her teacher's will from the outside. She had also stolen some of Narumi's Alice.
They met again in the manga and talked about the promise they made to each other. At that time, Narumi also demanded to return the students' and his Alice that she stole. But Yuka only gave him the Alice of the students. [5]
In a special chapter about Shūichi and Subaru when they were young, he is shown as an arrogant and proud student and is often hit by Yuka for telling them scary stories.
[edit] Misaki-sensei
He and Misaki are best friends, even though they always fight. Misaki has stated that Narumi's Alice suits his personality well. Later in the manga, the Special Ability students found a photo album containing pictures of him and Misaki, which actually looks like Natsume and Ruka. Also, he kissed Misaki on the lips so he could go meet Mikan's mother.

Narumi has the human inclination pheromone Alice. His Alice can make older people, regardless of gender, do what he wants, but once he uses his Alice on children who are inexperienced with love, they will pass out.
Because Narumi has such strong pheromones, he uses the prevention earrings and ring to control his Alice. He has no girlfriend, but the ring is placed on the ring finger.
