Nancy (With the Laughing Face)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Nancy (With the Laughing Face)" is a song composed in 1944 by Jimmy Van Heusen, with lyrics by Phil Silvers. Although Silvers had never written lyrics professionally, he decided on a whim, while visiting Sinatra at his home and hearing Van Heusen play the melody, to try his hand at coming up with words to fit the tune.
The song is about Frank Sinatra's daughter, Nancy Sinatra[1], and was a staple of Sinatra's live performances from its composition.
