From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Najjadeh is a Lebanese political party, founded in the 1930s. The party use to enjoy a very large support from the Sunni Muslim community, especially in Beirut. In 1943, The party allied with its Maronite Christian rivals, Pierre Gemayel's Kataeb party, in order to show the unity of Lebanon which was calling for it's independence from France.

The party advocates Arab Nationalism, but never really worked for it.

Adnan Hakim, founder of the party, was Sunni MP in Beirut between 1968 and 1972.

In 1975, Najjadeh refused to take part in the Lebanese Civil War, which has led to the fading of their popularity. Today the party is no more than a small organization with no significant support, it is currently led by Mustafa Hakim grandson of Adnan Hakim
