Naim Haroon Sakhia

Naim Haroon Sakhia is a short story writer of Urdu language, a novelist, Urdu debater, former TV actor and model and currently a US Immigration Attorney & Civil Rights Attorney in California, USA.
He started writing short stories while in high school at BVS Parsi High School in Karachi Pakistan. He contributed regularly in children's magazines, Naunihal and Taleem-o-Tarbiat. Later he went on to write short stories and series of stories in Akhbar-e-Jehan, Jasoosi Digest and Suspense Digest. Jasoosi Digest, one of the most widely circulated Urdu Digest which publishes collection of short stories invites talented writers to write stories based on the character and themes appearing on the cover of the magazine. This is the most coveted section of the magazine among writers and tremendously popular among readers. He was invited by the editor of the magazine to write stories in that section on a regular basis. His first story in that section appeared in June 1992.
He wrote a novel in Mystery Genre titled 'Tamash Gah'. This book has been put on the shelves of Lancashire County Council Library in UK (http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/libraries/resources/booklists/urdu.asp?offset=2000). This library has a large selection of Urdu books.
He studied at Government College of Commerce Economics to earn Bachelor's of Commerce Degree. During his period of study at the college, he earned the reputation of Best Urdu Debater. He led the Urdu debating team of the college in many contests. He won the Best Debater prize in All Karachi Inter-Collegiate Debating Contest in October 1985.
In early 1990s, Naim Haroon Sakhia, acted in a TV Drama 'Waqt-Ka-Aasman' produced by veteran PTV producer Qasim Jalali. He also had a short modeling career.
[edit] Civil Rights of Children & Parents:
Currently he practices law in CA and focus on defending civil rights of parents and children who feel that their civil rights have been violated by the local school districts in Southern California. He is very involved in defending the rights of the children, some of them belonging to immigrant and minority communities, who feel they are being taken advantage of because their parents are not willing to come forward due to their immigration status in the US.

Naim Haroon Sakhia is passionate about immigrant's rights and is involved in educating the immigrant communities about ways to protect their rights by writing articles, doing radio shows and holding informal meetings to educate the immigrant communities.
