Talk:Nagavanshi

[edit] Sources needed
The dynasty as such must be documented in the historical records. Also, we need all the details why people worshipping serpents could be called Nagavanshis. I mean just because they worship serpents won't make them Nagavanshis. Many other castes also follow that tradition.

[edit] Need to expand
The User 59.163.192.85 is constantly deleting the Jat entry from this article claiming only the Rajputs to belong to this dynasty. It seems speculation. The term Rajput was not invented during the period of Nagavanshi dynasty from 500 BC to 500 AD. The term Rajput was invented about 7th century AD. Thakur Deshraj is one of the prominent Historian. He has mentioned about Rajputs in his book on Jat history page 113-114,as well as The Gazetteer of India Vol 2 (page 307-308), Which deals with the Rajputs writes as under:
- "Then between the 7th and 8th centuries the old racial divisions passed away and a new division came in founded upon status and function.... The rise of Rajputs determined the whole political history of time. They made their first appearance in 8-9th centuries; most of the greatest clans took possession of their seats between 800 and 850 AD. ..."
So there is no point in writing Rajputs to belong to Nagavanshi dynasty. The article content mentions the clans of Naga dynasty which are still existing in Jat people. If somebody feels that some clans of Rajputs are from Nagavanshi dynasty then these should be listed and explained to make the claim authentic. There is a need to expand this article as main stream historians are silent about Nagavanshi dynasty rule in India for thousand years. --burdak 03:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
