N-Strike is a line of Nerf guns that were recently released. They have been "realistic" as opposed to earlier guns that were considered were cartoonish. Guns in the N-Strike line are: NiteFinder EX-3, Maverick REV-6, Nerf Firefly REV-8, Recon CS-6, Longshot CS-6, Titan AS-1 (along with the rest of the Unity Power System of the Hornet and Scout), and the Iron Man "Final Solution" Repulsion Dart Blaster. They typically have a "Tactile Rail" that sights/scopes and a "laser" light can be mounted on. The N-Strike brand has become a favorite of many high-school boys, particularly when a department store is within walking distance of their school. This line of products has led to the after-school activity known as "Nerfing" consisting of a group of 2 or more boys armed to the teeth with their own Nerf N-Strike arsenal, going at it in a game very similar to "war". Typically, a "hit limit" is assigned; anywhere from 1 to 5. Although this game has been around for longer than the N-Strike brand, it has recently seen spikes in popularity, resulting in an exponential increase in the number of Nerf N-Strike Maverick REV-6's sold and purchased.
The guns have been notoriously hard to modify in the NIC (Nerf Internet Community), apart from the NiteFinder. The NiteFinder EX-3 is a small pistol with a laser sight. It can hold 3 nerf darts and is loaded by pulling back a small handle on the back of the gun. It can shoot up to 35 feet and the laser is accurate up to 15 feet away. The Maverick REV-6 is a revolver type weapon, arguably one of the best of the N-Strike series because of its low cost, fast firing rate, and easy action and reloading functions. It holds 6 nerf darts of almost any kind and is actioned by wracking a slide on the top, similar to those on real pistols.
The Recon CS-6 is a multi type weapon with 5 parts. The parts include the gun itself, a barrel, a flip up sight, laser targeting, and a stock. It is clip loaded and the clip hold 6 darts. You can buy another clip that sits into the stock. The gun is loaded by pulling the top towards you and then pushing it forward. The range of this gun is changed when you edit its configuration.
The long shot is a sniper rifle type nerf gun. It has 3 parts. Two main body sections and a scope that is slid onto the tactile rail. It is 3 feet long and has two clips of 6 darts each. It has a range of up to 35 feet. The Nerf Firefly REV-8 is a nerf gun with darts that can be wrapped with stickers then placed in the gun and glow in the dark. Similar to the Maverick REV-6 it is a revolver type weapon with a rotating barrel. It can hold 8 darts. It may be rested under the arm or on a shoulder with it's shoulder stock. It can shoot up to 30 feet. The largest nerf gun, although not the longest is the N-STRIKE unity power system. It consists of three parts. The TITAN-AS1 is a missile launcher type weapon and is pumped to load with enough pumping it can go 60-80 feet. It comes with only 1 missile. The HORNET AS-6 fires 6 darts at the same time after pumping. The SCOUT IX-3 is a small pistol type weapon that fires 1 dart at a time similar to the NightFinder but no laser sight. Although it has not been released yet, there is a lot of attention to a new gun called the Vulcan EBF-25. It is a large belt-fed automatic blaster that has a folding tripod, similar to an M-60 or a machine gun of that nature. It is described by Hasbro to be the "Biggest, baddest NERF blaster ever." It comes with a chain that hold 25 darts (Hence the name) and replacement/extra belts will be available for purchase. Not much more is known about the Vulcan, though there is an extensive discussion on www.nerfhaven.com about the blaster on the community forums, where many members have studied pictures and a short video clip to predict what it will be like/how it will work. There are many different kinds of nerf darts. A few are streamline darts, tagger darts, and micro darts. N-strike guns, however, do not feature tagger darts, which are used in the Dart Tag line. Tagger darts can still be used in N-strike blasters, they just do not come packaged with them.
