[edit] Admin coaching
Hey, if you remember, you volunteered to admin coach me a while ago, and you answered a few questions I had. I am now interested in becoming an admin myself, and I was wondering what your thoughts would be on my candidacy. Thanks, -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 01:08, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for the advice; I'll act on it. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 23:52, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, I could swear that I just posted on your talk page with the following inquiry the other day, but it appears that I have not! Very strange. Anyway, I've been participating a bit more in the Wikipedia namespace and in policy discussions, occasionally checking the village pump and weighing in at the respective policy pages, in addition to XfD participation of course. What would your thoughts now be on my candidacy as an administrator? I was thinking that I'd nominate myself sometime soon if you think I'm ready. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 09:26, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Please Help
I am Darth Caton and I am new here. I would like to contribute to the Wikipedia Hip-hop article improvements. I also have been faced with a problem, please respond when you can.
Hello, I need to know how to join the Project: Hip-Hop. I have worked around hip-hop (currently an intern at XXL Mag) for almost all my life, and I have tons of info on rappers that no normal website can offer.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Tupac_-_Changes.ogg
Thanks for uploading Image:Tupac_-_Changes.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 07:50, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Apple TV
Mysekurity, can you please tell me what is confusing about the second paragraph of the lead of the Apple TV article - it simply explains when and who it was introduced by and when it started shipping. Reply at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Apple TV. Thanks — Wackymacs 07:02, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disappearance of Madeleine McCann
Agree with your remarks re the MWWS element. TBH, I am concerned about the lack of neutrality in this page generally. Consider the 'criticism' sections, as a case in point. A few timid criticisms of the parents are cited, but each is qualified by an explanation/rebuttal. Yet the Portuguese police are afforded no such right of reply. Interested in your thoughts.Snowbunni 21:15, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- To be quite honest, I have no real interest in the case, and I assume that is partly why I added that tag. I am in America, and I consider the case little more than an annoyance (I can only assume what it must be like for Brits.) I know little of the facts, nor do I care to. That said, I obviously hope the girl gets found safe and sound though at this point there is practically no chance of that happening. I think the reason that this case is still in the minds of people is due to MWWS, as it follows the symptoms almost to the letter. Then again, my personal beliefs hold no bearing on Wikipedia, but neither do TerrierFan's (or whatever his name is). I strongly wish there would be more criticism of why we are still discussing this case months after the initial disappearance. Then again, I wish more people would stop caring about Jon Benet Ramsey, but hell, that's just me. -Mysekurity 21:30, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Request for admin coaching
Hi, I'm GorillaWarfare and am hoping to receive some coaching to become an admin. If you'd like to coach me, please leave a message on my talk page. You can see my edit count here but don't be surprised when you see that I have 25 edits. That is because I recently forgot the password to my old account, User:Theunicyclegirl. Here is my edit count from my old account. I almost have 2000 edits. I frequently revert vandalism by watching Lupin's filtered RCs. I also like to expand stubs, particularly those relating to cats or dogs. I am very good with user warning templates and speedy deletion templates. I sometimes respond on AFD. Thanks for considering me! --GorillaWarfare talk 16:53, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for the suggestion regarding the account problem. I'll definitely try it. Thanks for deciding to help me. I have two main questions:
- Do I look like I could pass RfA right now?
- If not or if you're unsure, what can I do to strengthen my request?
--GorillaWarfare talk 17:17, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

- Erm, well, I hope this isn't too inconvenient, but I don't have email -- I much prefer this type of communication. --GorillaWarfare talk 17:33, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

- Hm, I honestly can't see what you would possibly need to tell me that you couldn't on English wiki. If you want you could always post it in a hidden message like <!--hi--> or something so it wouldn't be so visible. But perhaps I'm just being naïve. If it is absolutely positively necessary and completely unavoidable then I'll see what I can do... --GorillaWarfare talk 11:13, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Clever waste of time
Hey there, I needed to ask you something about an article that was deleted. On March 12th, you deleted the Clever waste of time page because it was "possibly offensive and uncyclopedic." I've been asked by the site's creator to check into why it was deleted, as many of the people on that site worked on it andd felt it was a good page. In doing some research I've discovered that the Notpron page was deleted also, and since that is probably the biggest online puzzle ever, I would assume you are getting rid of individual puzzle pages. But I don't remember anything on the Clever waste of time page being offensive. Could youu just drop me a line and explain everything, please? Thanks a million! Kntrabssi 18:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- I see the confusion now! Yes, there was no spite nor malice intended, and really, all the site creator was concerned with was if someone was making offensve edits that represented the website. Thanks a ton for looking into it and clearing things up! Kntrabssi 22:49, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] itunes changelog
Looks like "but it's useful to me!" is going to carry the day on that one. I look forward to adding the change log for SQL server, MS word, windows XP (plus changelogs) etc etc.... --Fredrick day 00:26, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your recent edits
Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button
located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 07:02, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

- Pretty good, been busy lately though. It feels funny to be classed among the more 'senior' admins now, there is a difference in what people think of you, and what you can get away with :). It is also odd watching all the 'new users' you have met become admins, makes me feel old. Anyway </nostalgia>. Let me know if you ever need anything, happy to oblige. Happy editing! - That would actually be interesting to see. It would be great to have a graph of the average lifespan of administrators over time (e.g. admins who came in 2001 lasted on average x years, admins from 2002 lasted y...), and average age of admins over time. Perhaps one of our statistics gurus could make it. Prodego talk 01:43, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Responce
Thats not an opinion my friend, its a fact, there are more iTunes users out there then residents of the U.S, and go ahead, I finished transwiking one ages ago and iTunes Version History is here to stay from what I can see. If you have nothing better to do with your time then by all means, you go have fun.
"and hopefully learn to contribute positively to the encyclopedia in the future. dont dare attack my edits like that again, or we have trouble. I have never negativly contributed to this wiki.
My opinions are my own, I'll bring what opions I like onto Wikipedia, thats the point of a community. But as said, the constitution comment was no such thing.
Also, I dont archive unfinished descussions, I have no idea where you got that idea.
Ferdia O'Brien The Archiver, Reformatter And Vandal Watchman (Talk) 11:24, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- I take it I've hit a nerve. Spelling and grammatical errors aside, the threat of "trouble" if I continue to disagree with your contributions is quite disturbing in its own way. It is clear you have no respect for policy, nor other users who happen to disagree with you. And to say that iTunes "effects [sic] more people" than the US constitutional amendments is not only wrong, it's also incredibly offensive. As for the comment on archiving, please follow the guidelines set at Help:Archiving a talk page. Archiving unfinished (or recently finished discussions) for no other purpose than to move them to a subpage tends to imply the user has something to cover-up, and goes against the open spirit of Wikipedia. Thanks for your understanding, Mysekurity 19:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- No nerve hit, and grammatical mistakes were due to the fact that it doesn't bother me in the slightest, and I didn't put much care into the responce. The trouble I refered to is one you know well, policys and guidelines, I think you'll find personal attacks is right up there, and saying I contributed negatively is one of them. I have respect for those who disagree with me, so long as they can debate they point, which no one did on the iTunes page. The comment I made isnt untrue, iTunes has millions of users world-wide, the U.S constitution affects a single country. As for archiving, I don't see how it emplys I have something to hide, as the archive is in full view. I do it for cleanlyness sakes.
Ferdia O'Brien The Archiver, Reformatter And Vandal Watchman (Talk) 21:06, 25 September 2007 (UTC)- I specifically refrained from attacking you personally. That said, the grammatical and spelling errors of which I wrote referred not just to this discussion, but in general (I take it you use Firefox--did you know version 2 and up have an automatic spellcheck feature?). Even the most forgiving estimates of iTunes users place the figure at around 200 million. Apple itself says it has 10 million users. By contrast, the United States has 300 million people, and a far greater number than that are affected by the Amendments. Josephberte and I were very accommodating in offering a compromise, and offered points that you either ignored, or answered with a completely irrelevant thought. Looking over your archive, I can see that this isn't the first time you've had trouble with other users. This is your last chance to make right and contribute positively before you are disallowed from editing. -Mysekurity 21:27, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- I never once ignored anyones points in that discussion, in fact I made a point to respond to everything relevant said. And I'm sorry but I'm not going to be disallowed from editing, so don't bother thowing around such an idle threat, even you admins have to justify your actions. I repeat, I have never negatively contributed to this wiki. I don't see the point of carrying on the iTunes/Constitution argument as its purpose is now served. And my grammer is just fine "in general". As for your compromise, that went against the exact point I was arguing, so why would I have accepted it?

[edit] Redirect of Barry Finkle
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Barry Finkle, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Barry Finkle is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Barry Finkle, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] AfD nomination of B3D
An editor has nominated B3D, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/B3D and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 02:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, previously you expressed interest in participating in the Wikipedia:Admin coaching project. We are currently conducting a reconfirmation drive to give coaches the opportunity to update their information and capacity to participate in the project. Please visit Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Status to update your status and move your entry to the Active list. Also, please remember to update your capacity (5th table variable) in the form of a fraction (eg. 2/3 means you are currently coaching 2 students, and could accept 1 more student). Thank you. [edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Abílio Manuel Guerra Junqueiro.jpeg
A tag has been placed on Image:Abílio Manuel Guerra Junqueiro.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Sdrtirs (talk) 22:22, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
