Category:Myrmecophagous mammals
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This category includes those mammals specialized for the consumption of (or whose diets are primarily composed of) ants and/or termites. Many of the otherwise unrelated mammals of this group display similar adaptations for their particular dietary niche -- including reduced teeth and jaws, long sticky tongue, and (often) powerful forelimbs suited for excavating the nests of their insect prey -- and so may be considered examples of convergent evolution.
