[edit] Translation of Songs and Albums Titles

Hello everybody! I talk to Frechmen! I have a task for you :) PLEASE! Could you translate all titles of her albums and songs? (Including the working title of TBA album (2008). Please! For exemple: Avant Que L'ombre (Before the Shadow...) and the others like that :) Please

[edit] Most successful artist

Johnny hallyday has sold more albums than she has in France. Maybe should the second sentence be removed? guest, 14.8.07

Why would it be removed? She is the most successful FEMALE recording artist. Smartissexy 07:09, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Although Mylène Farmer is one of the most successful french-candian artists, I think that a care should be taken about her being the most successful one. According to the information i have, she sold around 15 million, which is the same as France Gall. It could be misleading also because both Nana Mouskouri and Celine Dion had outsold Mylène in France. Thefox258 (talk) 20:51, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Well Nan Mouskouri has not outsold her in France, and, yes, Celine Dion has, but Celine Dion is Canadian and it's only with English sales in addition to French language sales has she outsold Mylène, just for clarity here. The 20 million figure comes from her record company, and it seems to be accurate. The real artists that might take offense to the most successful title are Françoise and Edith of course, both powerhouses in their day, but that was a very different era. None the less, I've relabeled her as among the most successful recording artists ever in France. Though culturally, I can't think of anyone besides Jean-Jacques Goldman who has had such a 360 impact on the French music and celebrity scene post 1960's as Farmer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Perennialsiren (talk • contribs) 05:02, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

  • The site "Infodisc" which I find realiable has data on CD and single sales. According to it,Nana Mouskouri has outsold Mylene.Thefox258 (talk) 19:38, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Nana Mouskouri's sales are complete nonsense, and as far as her presence in France goes, she was nearly invisible even at her peak.

[edit] France v Canada

Though I'd love to claim Mme Farmer wholly for Canada, it seems that, although she was born in Montreal, her parents were French and the family later returned to France. - Montrealais

I didn't know that. Thanks.
About the best-known songs.. I thought "Libertine", "Tristana", "Pourvu Qu'Elles Soient Douces", "L'Âme-Stram-Gram" and several songs from Anamorphosée were pretty popular too, though that may reflect my regretfully limited TV experience of her work. -- Kimiko 09:39, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)

What citizenship does Mrs Farmer have? I suspect French (French parents) and Canadian (born in Canada). Am I correct? David.Monniaux 10:43, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)

She's Ms, not Mrs ---alpha- 07:02, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Clips

Here should be described her clips such as Sans contrefacon, Sans logique, Je Te Rends Ton Amour. Ilya K 14:30, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Real name

Insert from an anonymous in the article.

According to askmen.com, Mylène was born Marie Helene Gauthier; Mylene was a nickname. Refer to: [[1]]

So what is her real name? Garion96 (talk) 22:16, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Despite many rumors, her real name is Mylène Gautier and not "Marie-Hélène Gauthier". Korg (talk) 00:51, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
You got a source for that? So that we can point to that instead of the changing the name once a month. Garion96 (talk) 01:04, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
I found this [2] for a source and used it in the article. Garion96 (talk) 12:52, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Her real name is Mylene. She once told that herself ---alpha- 07:02, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Her birth name is Mylène Jeanne Gautier. A common nickname of French women named Marie-Hélène is Mylène. Perhaps this is where the confusion is setting in. Multiple internet sources have her name wrong. Smartissexy 07:01, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] note number one

she was not n°1 in greece —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.118.248.77 (talk • contribs) . 14 April 2006

[edit] Add more about her music.

I've read the article, and I've left without information which kind of the music she play. Is it rock, if it is which kind; similar to whom? Punk, metal, disco? How her artistic expression developed? Such essential informations should be the core of the article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.172.32.149 (talk• contribs) 17:34, 15 September 2006 (UTC) .

Same here. This article says nothing about her music. Her music is the entire reason why she is notable enought to have an article. Someone who is knowledgable of this should improve the article. Berserk798 20:30, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Because it's very hard to classify her music. Sometimes it is referred to as 'french pop', but imo it's um nowhere near pop. ---alpha- 21:56, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
No one asked for it to be classified. Information about the music is needed. Berserk798 23:34, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Maybe the solution is to add the following verbage at the begining of the article: "She has sold more than 20 million CDs. Her fans have a difficult time catergorizing her unique music style into any one specific genre. Generally, most critics consider it French pop" J Simpson 11:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

== Honestly, this article is clearly written by fans and non-English speaking as well, the last sentences in the article about her last concert series not being a tour because of the nature of the show is repeated and has lots of mistakes. It denigrates imo the quality of the article. And yes there should be more writte about her music. Dollvalley (talk) 20:34, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
