[edit] History
The estate was established by Marchese Piero and Marchese Lodovico Antinori in 2001, initially named Tenuta Campo di Sasso.[3] The vineyard's original owners, the Mannoni family, also hold a share in the estate, as well as their nephew Niccolo Marzicchi Lenzi.[1]
An avant-garde wine cellar was designed for the estate by the architect Gae Aulenti.[2] Michel Rolland has been engaged as a consultant oenologist.[4]
In 2003 the Antinoris purchased an estate in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough with 13 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc vines, producing the two wines Mount Nelson and Ram's Hill.[5]
[edit] Production
Tenuta di Biserno, with approximately 70 hectares of vines planted, produces the second wine Il Pino di Biserno, and the Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Merlot blend Insoglio del Cinghiale, while the estate's flagship wine Biserno is not expected to be released until 2010. From the Bolgheri estate, Tenuta I Pianali there is produced Coronato.
