Murray Chotiner
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Murray Chotiner (1909-1974) was a close associate of Richard Nixon during his early political career. He was the Campaign manager for Richard Nixon for the first time in 1950 when Nixon ran against Helen Gahagan Douglas for the United States Senate in California. Chotiner was instrumental in the campaign against Douglas, referred to by Nixon as "the Pink Lady", whereby he alluded to her supposed Communist sympathies. In particular, Chotiner printed an infamous flyer, handed out at rallies, on pink paper.
In January 1974 he was involved in a car accident outside the home of one of Nixon’s political rivals, Massachusetts Democratic senator Edward Kennedy. He died a week later.
