The Muras are an indigenous people in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, where they live on the Amazon from the Madeira to the Purus. Formerly a powerful people, they were defeated by their neighbors the Mundrucus in 1788.
Each village has a chief whose office is hereditary, but he has little power.
