[edit] Nutrition
You seem to have an interest in parenteral nutrition. I am somewhat concerned by the way you are representing Intralipid as the only absolute cause for PNALD. A quick look at a recent case report PMID 16818533 shows clearly that there are numerous different theories on the exact etiology, and that omega-6 vs omega-3 is only one of the possible factors. It would be biased to suggest that Omegaven is definitely safer - how many patients have been studied?
Looking at the blogs you have cited on Omegaven, this phenomenon seems to have been driven to an extent by parent activism. Are you aware of research studies coming out to confirm this? Dr Puder's page certainly suggests that this is still being investigated[1]. The Wall Street Journal article[2] confirms this. JFW | T@lk 03:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- The link to the short gut wiki probably doesn't meet our external links criteria. How authoritative is it? Who contributes to it?
