Munroethuruth or [[Munroe Island]] also spelled as Munrothuruthu is a beautiful place surrounded by Kallada River, Ashtamudi Lake and Sasthamkottah Lake in Kollam district, Kerala, India. Munroethuruth is about 25 km from Kollam by road, 12 km west from Kundara and about 25 km from Karunagapally.

[edit] First community tourism project
The first community tourism programme in the State will start functioning from the MunroeThuruthu islands in Kollam district.
This was announced by Minister for Tourism Kodiyeri Balakrishnan during a visit to the islands on Monday morning along with Education Minister M.A. Baby and other officers. The community tourism programme will operate on the basis of the proposals made by the grama panchayats concerned. The programme envisaged private participation too and would function under the motto ‘Ente gramam tourism souhritha gramam.’
Mr. Balakrishnan announced the programme after clearing the recommendations submitted in this connection by the Munroe Thuruthu grama panchayat. He said the community tourism project was meant for both domestic and foreign tourists. In addition to accommodation facilities that will come up under the programme, houses in the islands lying vacant will be utilised for the purpose.
