Muhsin Ertuğral
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Muhsin Ertuğral (born 15 September 1959 in Istanbul) is a Turkish football (soccer) coach. He speaks German, Turkish and English fluently.
Ertugral is most notable for coaching in Africa, currently coaching Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa. It is his second stint at the Johannesburg-based club.
Ertugral recently took Ajax Cape Town to ABSA Cup glory with a comfortable 2-0 victory against league champions Mamelodi Sundowns on May 26, 2007. That proved to be a successful season for Ajax under Ertugral as they went on to finish fourth in the league and the only side never to suffer defeat against Sundowns in that season.
He also coached Congo DR, then still known as Zaire, taking them to the African Cup of Nations in 1996, where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals. It was that performance with Zaire which caught the attention of Kaizer Chiefs MD Kaizer Motaung.
He picked up a number of trophies with South African team Kaizer Chiefs, including the African Cup Winners' Cup in 2001, being the only person to lead a South African team to this honour. Ertugral was asked to be the technical director of Kaizer Chiefs but he preferred to stay on the coaching stage.
He has managed the following teams:
- TSV Dagersheim -
Germany - TSV Platternhardt -
Germany - FC Saarbrücken -
Germany - Bani Yas Club -
United Arab Emirates - Kaizer Chiefs -
South Africa - Santos -
South Africa - Ajax Cape Town -
South Africa - Club Africain -
Tunisia - SV Mattersburg -
Austria - Ismaily -
Egypt - Congo DR (Which, at the time was named Zaire)
