Muhammad bin Ismail was the son of Ismail bin Jafar and an Ismaili Imam. He is believed by Sevener Ismailis to be in occultation and will one day return as al-Mahdi and bring about an age of justice. The majority of Ismaili however follow his descendants through his son Wafi Ahmad who founded the Fatimid Empire, including the Nizari and Mustaali.
