Mu Epsilon Kappa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mu Epsilon Kappa Society is an organization of anime clubs which "strives to create a safe and accepting environment of inter- and intra-cultural communication in which people are welcome to express themselves and explore their interests without fear of ridicule or persecution. [1]"

[edit] History

The Mu Epsilon Kappa Society started at the University of North Texas in the 1980's as Northstar, and became Mu Epsilon Kappa in 1995 as members of the club at Texas Tech transferred and took over, and eventually broke off affiliation. In 2003, new officers took over and instituted a democratic system and expanded the membership over a few years. In 2007, they became the Alpha chapter in the Mu Epsilon Kappa Society and joined with Alpha Mu, the anime club at Mississippi State University with the goal of creating a national network of clubs designed to provide a haven for people to meet others like them.
