From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Emerald Seas sailed from the Port of Miami during the 1970s on cruises to the Bahamas, Western Caribbean and Mexico.

Operated by Eastern Steamship Lines, it was one of the first cruise ships to offer moderately priced short duration (3-5 days) cruise vacations. The ship later was owned by and operated by Admiral Cruise Lines.

Started out first as U.S. Naval troop ship General W.P. Richardson in August 1944.

Before she was the Emerald Seas, she was known as Laguardia, Leilani, President Roosevelt and Atlantis. After she was known as Emerald Seas she was called Sapphire Seas and Ocean Explorer 1.

Since 2004, she is believed to have been scrapped in India.
