Its Armies were distributed with the 14th Army defending the Murmansk – Kandalaksha direction, 7th Army in the Petrozavodsk direction, and the 23rd Army along the Karelian coast

During the year were added three submarines, two mine-sweepers, thirty-two torpedo boats, sixty-two anti-submarine boats,
- From September 1941 the 7th Army was renamed 7th Independent Army and transferred to the direct Stavka command
- Formed in the AO of the Karelian Front: 19th Army, 26th Army, 32nd Army and the 7th Air Army
- From February 1944: the 7th Independent Army was returned to the Front command while defending along the Svir river
- From July 1944: includes the Ladoga flotilla and Onega flotilla
- Disbanded 15 November 1944 due to cessation of hostilities with Finland
- Field Staff transferred to the Far East and used to form the Coastal Group of Forces, and later the 1st Far Eastern Front
