The Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society is an amateur astronomical society based in the south-east of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Formerly the Astronomical Society of Frankston (ASF), MPAS has a membership of approximately 160, and is the second largest such group in the state.
The Society was founded in 1969 with the aim of fostering the study of astronomy by amateurs and promoting the hobby of amateur astronomy to the general public, and holds regular public viewing nights for this purpose. A General Meeting is also held every month.
MPAS hosted the 2006 NACAA convention.[1]
