Moyross (Maigh Rois in Irish) Estate was developed between 1973–1987 in Limerick City & County, Ireland. It comprises 1,160 houses which are divided into 12 parks. Although the population has decreased in recent years it still stands in excess of 4,000 people, 50% of which are under the age of 24. It is the largest housing estate in Limerick City.

It is often the subject of media attention due to its associations with anti-social behaviour and crime. However, these problems are generally confined to certain gangs.

Delmege Park and Pineview Gardens are the worst affected parts. In 2006, John Fitzgerald, former Dublin City Manager and Limerick native was sent by the Irish government to report back to the cabinet regarding the main issues affecting Moyross. John Fitzgerald and his team then took it upon themselves to take a more holistic approach to this report and also took into consideration other troublesome areas of the city. Fitzgerald reported back to the Government in April 2007 and the cabinet agreed to go ahead with his recommendations. These recommendations then got cross party support which was vital considering the upcoming General Election.

Brendan Kenny, former assistant Dublin City manager, was appointed as CEO of the two regeneration companies, one for the north and one for the south. Each company has members from the Gardaí, HSE and governmental departments but each company also has individuals from each community in order to give the people a say at the board table. A regeneration plan is under way for Moyross and other parts of the city.[1]

There is a Community Enterprise Centre in the centre of the estate which employs upwards of 100 people who carry out work varying from environmental to creche work. This community centre has been in existence since 1992. It is estimated that only 1-2% of the population have any involvement in criminal activities[citation needed] and it is hoped that the new regeneration plan will lower this figure.
