Mouse Island

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mouse Island is an island located in Lake Erie off the northern tip of Catawba Point in Ottawa County, Ohio, United States, near the city of Sandusky ( 41°59′11.1″N, 82°83′30.6″W). It was named Mouse Island for its small size.

The island was once owned by the American president, Rutherford B. Hayes, who erected a small house for a retreat on the southwestern side of the island. The foundation of this house can still be seen on the island.
