Mount Vernon High School is a rural secondary school (grades 9-12) located in Fortville, IN. Managed by the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation, it currently serves 1,057 students and employs 67 faculty members. It was formed in 1963 by the consolidation of Vernon Township and Mount Comfort. Vernon Township was a consolidation of Fortville & McCordsville high schools in 1959. Mount Vernon High School has grown in past years due to population growth in NW Hancock County.
