[edit] Motive for Movement
Motive for Movement Motive for Movement is a rock band from Claremore, OK that formed in 2005 under the name Fairlane. They have recently signed a deal with Tulsa indie label Yeah Siam Records and are recording their debut album to be released summer 2008. Motive for Movement often plays and/or puts on concerts for charitable organizations such as Cancer Sucks and Invisible Children as well as many other local causes.
[edit] Formation and Name Change
Motive for Movement formed out of the ashes of Tulsa, OK Jam band Mellofront in 2005 under the name Fairlane. The original lineup consisted of Adam Nichols on lead vocals/guitar, Deric Williams on Guitar/Vocals, Daniel Clark on Drums, and Tobie Munroe on bass. After winning the 2006 Warehouse New Band Tournament (former winners include Edison Glass, Subseven, The Agony Scene, and Deas Vail) they changed their name to Motive for Movement. Motive for Movement then went on to record a self titled EP as well as tour the Midwest in the summer of 2006. After parting ways with their management in late 2006, Motive for Movement went on to record The Arts EP, a 7 song album that received significant regional airplay. In fall 2006 Motive for Movement’s single Illuminate had the 2 longest run on Z104.5 The Edge’s cockfight beating out singles by Incubus, Bowling for Soup, and Shinedown. Motive for Movement was nominated for Tulsa's Best Hard Rock Act 2007 by the Tulsa World Spotnik Awards.
[edit] Member Change and Yeah Siam Records
In late 2007 Motive for Movement was offered a 2 album deal with Tulsa area indie record label Yeah Siam Records. Adam Nichols left the band soon after to pursue his MBA. Deric moved to lead vocals, Tobie to guitar, and Chris Davis, of the band The Forward became the new bass player. In Feb. 2008 Motive for Movement began recording their debut full length record. The album is being mixed and mastered by Joshua Silverberg (Edison Glass).
