A merge of the two articles would probably be fine if:

1) There is a redirect from one to the other.

2) It is made clear why this company has two names.

A merge might not have been necessary if the writer of the Morton International, Inc. article had made a redirect from "Morton Salt" (the company name that is generally known to the public) in the first place. Badagnani 19:52, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

  • If merged, please retain under Morton Salts. Thanks. 198.65.167.213

[edit] Removed link

Re [1] (Badagnani): The link was originally added by what I suspect to be a sock of the owner of the site (whom I've blocked for spamming) and who twice evaded my questions about the copyright status of his pages. Thus I don't think the link is appropriate. Femto 16:07, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I've looked through the page and it seems of historical interest and value. Badagnani 16:26, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Okay, let's put it more clearly: There is reason to believe that the owner of the site has no permission to publish these images, and that knowingly directing others to the link may not be acceptable per Wikipedia's policy. Go on, you can ask him. Last time, the talkpage was 'archived' two hours after I posted a straight question about it.
We're here to build an encyclopedia of free content, not to link to that of others. If these images are of encyclopedic value, and if they are legal, at least a few of them can—and should—be uploaded by this user. Which hasn't happened, despite an earlier request to do this instead of adding more links. Femto 11:46, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
