MORE FM is a New Zealand radio network playing adult contemporary music. It is operated by RadioWorks, a subsidiary of MediaWorks NZ.
MORE FM broadcasts in 21 centres throughout New Zealand with local programming during the day and networked programming from 7:00pm until 6:00am every night. The network is the result of a re-branding exercise of several local RadioWorks stations since November 2004. Prior to this, five stations in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin broadcast entirely local programming, although some shows in Dunedin were networked from Christchurch.
According to the MediaWorks corporate website, MORE FM targets a 25-44 year old female audience and seeks to maintain a local presence in the markets in which it operates. Sponsorship of the five Super 14 franchises, especially by the original five stations, is an important component of the network's brand.[1]

91.6 MORE FM Northland is a radio station serving the Whangarei urban area and the entire Northland region. Before the re-branding to MORE FM in 2005 this station was known famously as KCC FM.

91.8 MORE FM Auckland is a radio station serving the Auckland urban area. MORE FM Auckland came to be in August 1993.
Programming includes:
- 6 - 10am "KaC" The Kim And Corbett Breakfast Show (with Hilary Barry and producer Nathan the Terrible). Cam or Lance are often used to step in for KaC.
- 10 - 3pm Peter Dakin.
- 3 - 7pm Lance Dunne. Lance is often used to step for KaC in the 6 - 10am slot whenever Kim & Corbett are away.
The MORE FM Network programme (7pm to 6am) that is fed to all other MORE FM stations in New Zealand is generated from MORE FM's Auckland studios.

92.0 MORE FM Waikato is a radio station based in central Hamilton. More FM was started in the 1990's as a totally local station in the Waikato region.

93.4 MORE FM Tauranga is a local radio station based in central Tauranga, broadcasting across the Bay of Plenty region. Before the re-branding to MORE FM, this local station was known as 93.4 Coastline FM.

95.9 MORE FM Rotorua is a local radio station based in central Rotorua, broadcasting across the Rotorua region. It is also heard in Reporoa, Broadlands, Ngakuru and Waikite Valley on 89.3 This station was formerly Lakes 96FM.

MORE FM Gisborne/Wairoa is a local radio station broadcasting from the heart of Gisborne City. Before the MORE FM re-branding in 2005 this station was known as Gisborne's 89FM. Originally on 89.3, MORE FM Gisborne moved to 89.9 (rural coverage) and 98.9 (city coverage) in early 2007. Another repeater (also on 98.9) was set up to service the northern Hawke's Bay town of Wairoa in April 2007.

93.5 MORE FM Taupo is a radio station based in Taupo, broadcasting across the Central Plateau. The MORE FM brand replaced the previous local branded 93.5 KIS FM. MORE FM Taupo take great pride in putting a tremendous amount of focus on their surrounding community. They've regularilly made the finals at the New Zealand Radio Awards in a variety of different categories and this year were named the 2006-2007 Provincial Station of the year.

92.7 MORE FM Hawke's Bay is a local radio station based in Hastings, New Zealand, broadcasting across Hawke's Bay... A region world famous for its wine and sunshine. The MORE FM brand replaced the previous local station HOT 93FM, which began broadcasting in December 1983 as Radio Hawke's Bay 93FM.

92.2 MORE FM Manawatu is a local radio station based in the Hub Mall in central Palmerston North broadcasting across the Manawatu region. Before the MORE FM re-branding in 2005, this station was a very famous heritage station known as 2XS FM.

95.1 MORE FM Horowhenua is a local radio station based in central Levin broadcasting to the Horowhenua district. Also known as Dave key Country. Before the MORE FM re-branding in 2005 this station was named Horowhenua's 95FM.

MORE FM Kapiti began broadcasting in the 1990's on 99.6FM as a relay of the MORE FM programme from Wellington but with locally generated commercial breaks. In 2004 when RadioWorks rebranded many of their local stations as MORE FM local station 2XX FM became 90.2 MORE FM and the existing MORE FM station was replaced with a relay of the Wellington The Breeze programme with locally generated commercials. 2XX once broadcast on 1377AM as well as 90.2FM. In 2004, The Radio Network purchased the 1377AM frequency for its Radio Sport station.

89.3 MORE FM Wairarapa is a radio station based in Masterton broadcasting to the Wairarapa province. Before the MORE FM re-branding in 2005 this station was named Hitz 89FM. MORE FM Wairarapa also broadcast on 99.8FM in Martinborough to fully cover the Wairarapa.

94.7/100 MORE FM Wellingon play's More Music Variety from the 80's, 90's and Today! Wellington is the birthplace of the MORE FM brand! It started broadcasting from there on May 6, 1991 as 99/100 MORE FM.
Recently the 98.9FM frequency was relocated to 94.7FM (formerly Channel Z) and 94.7FM now broadcasts MORE FM, as well as the 100.0FM frequency. The more powerful 100FM frequency transmits across to Blenheim in the South Island and has been received in Masterton.
Once the Wellington station was established, the brand spread across the country to Christchurch and then Auckland, although the programmed was not networked. This would happen several years later.

93.0 MORE FM Nelson is a local radio station broadcasting from the heart of Nelson city to the Tasman District; including Motueka & Takaka on 92FM and Murchison on 94FM. Before the MORE FM re-branding in 2005 this station was known famously as Fifeshire FM. To this day the station broadcasts from the historic Fifeshire House however the breakfast show is currently fed from Christchurch.

92.1 MORE FM Canterbury is a radio station broadcasting across Canterbury. The station was one of the original More FM stations. The station broadcasts on 92.1 across Canterbury and on 95.3 in Sumner/Redcliffs.
The station was started as an adult contemporary (AC) format station and continues with that format to this day. More FM Christchurch was operated by the Frader Group Limited. The first hosts of the morning show were James Daniels and Ken Ellis who had moved from 91 ZM. The show was also broadcast on Christchurch local TV station, Cry TV in its early shows.
MORE FM became one of the major radio stations in Canterbury when on 1 April 1997 the successful breakfast hosts Simon Barnett and Phil Gifford moved from The Radio Network's 91 ZM to MORE FM.

97.4 MORE FM Dunedin is a radio station broadcasting across Dunedin. MORE FM originally broadcasted in Dunedin on 98.2 and was locally presented except for Si & Gary for breakfast which was fed from Christchurch but the show was presented to include Dunedin. In 2004 as part of the MORE FM brand roll out across the country, it moved to the 97.4FM frequency, and replaced Dunedin radio station 4XO, creating 97.4 MORE FM Dunedin. An integration of presenters of 4XO & 98 MORE FM were can be heard on the station. The 98.2FM frequency is now Dunedin's Easy Listening Breeze 98.2FM - another of RadioWorks' local stations.

Central Otago's MORE FM, which is based from Alexandra replaced Radio Central in 2004. The station broadcasts on 90.3 and 94.3FM and covers Alexandra, Cromwell and other parts of Central Otago.

99.2 MORE FM Queenstown broadcasts on 99.2 FM and was originally branded as Resort Radio until 2004 when RadioWorks rebranded their heritage stations as MORE FM. More FM Queenstown also broadcasts on 99.4FM in Wanaka.

89.2 MORE FM Southland broadcasts to the Southland region. The location of transmission is the BCL site at Hedgehope. The station was originally started by a group of local investors as Foveaux Radio (4XF, 1224 kHz) in 1982, the station was bought by Radio Otago in the late 1980's and started broadcasting as "89.2 Foveaux FM" in the early 1990's.
Foveaux FM became Southland's 89.2 MORE FM in January 2005 as part of RadioWorks' move to rebrand all 'heritage' stations as MORE FM. MORE FM also continued to broadcast on 1224AM until October 2007 when BSport launched on this frequency. The 91.6FM frequency that Radio Pacific (BSport's predecessor) broadcast on was used to launch The Breeze into Southland. In December 2007 Southland's More FM began broadcasting in the Te Anau area on 96.0FM.

Outside the 6am to 7pm local timeslot, all broadcasts are fed via satellite from the MORE FM Auckland studio. This feed has localised inserts to allow for local advertising and station identification.

Evening and overnight network programming began in January 2005. The 'MORE FM Most Wanted' Night show was originally hosted by Dominic Bowden until the middle of 2005 and then by Tarsha Tolson until the middle of 2007 when Tarsha moved to Wellington to co-host the breakfast show. The overnight show was originally hosted by Asher Bastion (now 'Life FM') until June 2006. Originally weekend evening and overnight programming remained local in each region but this was replaced with network based shows in late 2005. On Friday and Saturday nights MORE FM now operates a nationwide all request 'Party Mix' show. Weekend's are now seeing more network programming from Auckland, which could increase in a growing trend for Radio in New Zealand.
[edit] Defunct MORE FM stations
Hawke's Bay's 92 MORE FM was New Zealand's first franchised MORE FM radio station and began transmission from its Napier studios in 1994 and continued until the mid-late 1990s when the MORE FM name was dropped to become 'Hawke's Bay's 92FM'. The station broadcast on 91.9FM from studios in Hastings Street and featured Peter Mac and Nicki Sunderland on breakfast. Other announcers included Kyllee Higgins, Scotty Mac, Nik Menzies, Cath White, James Milner, Kev Stanton and Greg Wattam. The station's slogan was 'More Music, More Variety' which was in line with the other MORE FM stations around the country at that time. The station was operated as a franchise by Radio Otago. In 1996, 92 MORE FM was relocated to Hastings where it joined Hot 93FM in the BNZ Building. Live content was reduced around this time with the night show being fully automated. 91.9FM now carries the Solid Gold FM programme.
Kapiti's 99.6 MORE FM began transmission across the Kapiti Coast and Horowhenua regions around 1994 and remained on air until 2004 when it was replaced by The Breeze. The station's programming was generated from MORE FM in Wellington, although it ran an entirely separate program to the Wellington station outside of breakfast. Voicebreaks were recorded in advance by the announcer in the Wellington studio. Localised weather forecasts, station IDs and jingles also helped create a local sound. Interestingly, 99.6 MORE FM played a slightly different music mix to the Wellington station where its programming originated from, although they both shared the 'More Music, More Variety' and later 'Today's Best Music Mix' slogans.
Dunedin's 98 MORE FM began broadcasting in Dunedin around 1997. The breakfast show, originally presented by Simon Barnett and Phil Gifford was a simulcast from Christchurch's 92 MORE FM. Other shows were a mixture of locally produced shows and shows prerecorded also from MORE FM in Christchurch. 98 More FM was replaced with a simulcast of The Breeze Christchurch when local station 4XO was rebranded as 97.4 MORE FM.
[edit] Playlist Centralisation
Originally all MORE FM stations ran their own independent music playlists. In March 2003 all of the LocalWorks stations operated by RadioWorks were given a centralised playlist meaning most LocalWorks stations played the same music, with the exception of the easy listening format stations. At first the MORE FM stations were not affected by this change but MORE FM in Waikato joined the centralised playlist after the LocalWorks station Y99.3FM in the Waikato was rebranded as The Breeze. During the middle of 2004 all MORE FM stations joined the centralised playlist (and station positioning statement) preparing the LocalWorks stations to be rebranded to MORE FM at the end of 2004. Originally some stations opted out of the centralised playlist to run special format shows such as an all Eighties show but today all MORE FM stations play the same songs.
