[edit] Notability of Cyber Knights Templar
A tag has been placed on Cyber Knights Templar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Tommosimmo (talk) 08:03, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- HEY! I WAS WORKING ON THAT!
- I recently created a page on the Cyber Knights Templar - the CKT builds of PGP are the only 3rd party versions of PGP (probably the worlds most well known email encryption software) which were based on the official PGP release and gained widespread usage - they are certainly notable - why did you delete the article such a short time after it was created?!!
- I did mark the article as being a stub, so it should have been pretty clear it was going to be extended - please have a little more patience in future!
- At the most, a {{notability}} tag would have been sensible
- FFS though! At least give an article a day or so before trying to delete it!
-
- If you actually read the notice, your article didnt recieve a Speedy Deletion template because it was too small or not indepth. It recieved it because it highlighted a club/group (Cyber Knights Templar) and did NOT give any reason as to why Cyber Nights Templar were notable. Yes, they may have created a build of PGP, but is that really notable? Admins seem to agree....
- Also, please learn to include your signature on all talk/disscussion pages, otherwise know one will know that your talking, without having to go through history.

- If you were familiar enough with PGP, then clearly YES - and you'd know that. If you'd let me continue writing the article, you would have seen that added in
- Like I said - you need to show more patience Moonradar (talk) 11:15, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

- Try reading what I typed before replying to it - if the article hadn't been prematurely deleted, I would have had a chance to flesh it out some more. Deleting articles before anyone's had the time to write them is just damn stupid

- I'm going to recreate the article - try not to delete it before I've written the title this time... Moonradar (talk) 15:59, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] December 2007
Please assume good faith in your dealings with other editors. Instead, assume that they are here to improve rather than harm Wikipedia. Please do not create articles that do not meet notability guidelines. Even if you intend to make them meet the guidelines later ... richi (talk) 20:26, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- As I've said before - if you read others comments, you'd probably appreciate what they were saying a little better. Go back and take another look; you'll find my comment was pretty fair, and with no bad faith assumption made Moonradar (talk) 09:04, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

- I think you just demonstrated perfectly why it was I asked you to assume GF. You have been asked not to create artices that do not assert the subject's notability. You chose to ignore that request and instead recreate the article. And you're still complaining, despite at least two editors referring you to the notability guidelines (see, I just did it again) and at least two admins concurring that the stub article did not meet the guidelines. You also chose to be abusive to two editors. This is not how WP works. Please stop ... richi (talk) 18:08, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Deletion of Cyber Knights Templar
In connection with the warning you handed to Tommosimmo: I took a look at the article concerned, and it turns out to have been deleted by Jmlk17, an administrator. Tommosimmo must merely have tagged it deletable under criteria A7, and the admin agreed with the assessment (he/she would've been able to refuse if not in agreement).
This isn't to say you should put a warning on the admin's talk page, threatening a block. It seems to me that, if you take the time to develop the article in your own user space beforehand, and transfer the contents to article space when you've produced a stub which asserts notability etc, then there'll be no trouble with deletions.
Does that make sense? --Tom Tresser (talk) 09:49, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- that's a good idea! i'll do that in future and it should stop thinks which should be kept not being deletes Moonradar (talk) 22:50, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
