Tales of the Storyteller is a 4-disc concept album by the French Canadian rock band Quicksilver recorded and released in 20??. The album is the first quadruple album released by pop/rock band in music history. The concept was found by leader and bassist Peter May when he remembered George Harrison's All Things Must Pass (1970) was a triple album.

[edit] History
In early 20??, the band toured and started playing older songs, previously unreleased. Peter May had the idea at time to take these songs, rework them and put them on a 4-disc album with a concept around. The band worked on the project while 2 years and started recording at Victor Studios and Abbey Road Studios from May to August 20?? and further recording and mixing from March to October 20??.
Peter May has written notes for the Storyteller preparation. In it, he wrote many ideas plus the album's concept. The concept turned around legends, tales and stories in music. The 6-part album's masterpiece tells the tale of a blind boy listening to an old man who tells tales and legends, but the kid does not see the old man is a manticore.
During recording sessions, Peter May, Dan Gibson and Keith Young — Mike Jones was absent because he was on holiday in Miami — have written most of the songs and talked about how the album would be made. The album is rich in experimentations of different genres as rock, pop, classic, psychedelic, blues and jazz. The songs on the album are mostly new, an some material is older or taken from previous albums' outtakes. The album material is exceptionally credited to "May/Young/Gibson", a thing that Quicksilver will never do again.
When it was released, the album was critically acclaimed, but some opinions did not approve the album because of its idea. "The idea of recording new and older songs together was not pretty good, but the concept and music are certainly among the best of the Auximenes' productions", said Rolling Stone magazine. However, Rolling Stone placed the album #278 in its 500 greatest albums of all time list.
