Talk:Montgomery Scholars Program (Montgomery College)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not keeping an eye on this page for quite some time, I've noticed some changes. Though I approve of most, I must argue against the removal of the "Controversies" section and the addition of the "Class of 2008".

  • To keep Wikipedia neutral, I've inserted in the past some of the more negative opinions in regards to the Scholars Program to keep the page from being happy-go-lucky. Yes, the Program has done much for MC and is a terrific educational experience for all freshman and sophomores, though there is still significant flaws which are heavily expressed and many feel need to be discussed. I am not sure of why such section has been removed, and I wish to repost it as soon as possible, unless someone may argue against it.
  • In regards to the "Class of 2008" section, there is no extraordinarily special class than any other that this class deserves its very own section. Every class has a very demographically diverse population of students graduating from a wide array of high schools, both public and private, and a hand-full from homeschooling. Instead, this section should be replaced with a list of all high schools that have sent students into the Scholars Program (including homeschooling), and emphasize on the diversity of every incoming class or whatnot. Basically, we should discuss the demographics of the program and leave the section as an opportunity to explain how the program helps Montgomery County, an overall extremely wealthy county with an unfortunately too wide of an economic gab within its community. Concerning the Cornerstone and Retreat, every class experiences this and it is not unique just to that of '08. The mention on the Cornerstone should be placed under "Curriculum" in the subsection "Capstone" and the retreat should just remain under "Social Settings."
