Montenegro (Serbian language: Црна Гора/Crna Gora, pronounced 'tsr̩naː 'ɡɔra) is a country located in southeastern Europe, on the Balkan peninsular. It has a coast on the Adriatic Sea to the south, and borders Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the northwest, Serbia to the northeast and Albania to the southeast. Its Capital is Podgorica and its Royal Capital, Cetinje. Montenegro was part of Yugoslavia from 1918, and then the state union of Serbia and Montenegro before based on the results of a referendum in 2006, it declared independance, making it the newest fully recognised country in the world. It became the 192nd member state of the United Nations in June 2006, and the 47th member state of the Council of Europe in May 2007.
