Montevideo Comics is the only comics convention held in Montevideo, Uruguay since 2002. The first Montevideo Comics took place in a small underground disco and it attracted the attention of nearly 600 people. It then began to grow, and each new edition of the convention attracted more visitors.
The last Montevideo Comics took place in the oldest cinema in Montevideo, called Plaza, and attracted 2500 visitors in two days, which is a huge number for an event of this kind in Uruguay.
There is no Montevideo Comics planned for 2007, though the producers of the event announced a new edition for May 17 and May 18, 2008.
