Montclair College Preparatory School

Montclair College Preparatory School, also commonly known as "Montclair Prep" is a combined elementary and secondary school located in Van Nuys, California which teaches grades 6 through 12. The school was founded by Dr. V. E. Simpson, he was the headmaster until his death in early 2008.

[edit] Athletic Programs

The school is known for its strong athletic programs having won 18 Southern Section titles and over 100 league titles in various sports. Former American football defensive end Cedric Jones presently coaches at Montclair.

During the 1970s the school's basketball program was so strong it would often schedule games all through out California with their games drawing up to 3,000 fans. Montclair Prep has also scheduled games against public schools with bigger enrollments as well in football and baseball. This year (2008) there soccer team is one of the best in the southland posting a 15-1-2 recored with three games remaining. The soccer team was lead by 1st team all CIF performers in Austin Mandel(Brown University) and Patrick Sheck (undecided). They are also lead by 1st team all-league performers in Jeremy Stone and Spencer Peck. The baseball team finished the season 16-11-1. They were lead by Kelvin Tolbert and Matt Hartunian
