From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Monoposto Racing Club is a single seater, open-wheeled motor racing club in the United Kingdom. Its members race a variety of single seater race cars ranging from 600cc Jedi's to 2000cc Formula Three cars. Monoposto is Italian for 'Single Seater'.

Production chassis's must be 3 or more years old (unless home designed and built) and utilise standard road specification iron block engines.

It has several classes of cars: 1200, 1600, 1800 and 2000cc.

The Championship visits most major UK race tracks, including Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Donington Park, Oulton Park, Castle Combe, Pembrey and Rockingham. It has a non-championship event at Spa-Francorchamps.

Recent Monoposto Champions include Jim Blockley(4 times), Jonathan Lewis and Mark Harrison (also 2003 British Sprint Champion).

The 2006 Monoposto championship was won by Mark Harrison from Jeremy Timms and Phil Moore.

In 2007 former champion Jim Blockley retired from the club having decided he had spent enough of his life trying to shorten his legs and stretch his neck. Jim is now living out his life in Gloucestershire where his biggest challenge is trying to stay cheerful in the face of rude comments from itinerant Jafas and finding his slippers.

2008 has seen races won by Mexican racing driver Neil Harrison and Jeremy Timms.
