Monika Harms

Monika Harms is a German jurist. Since 2006, she is the Attorney General of Germany.

Harms grew up in Frankfurt am Main. She worked as prosecutor and judge in Hamburg from 1974 to 1980, and was appointed as a judge to the Federal Court of Justice in 1987. Harms is also a member of the conservative Christian Democratic Union. An expert in tax law, she is also a lecturer at the Bundesfinanzakademie (Federal Finance Academy) in Brühl.
