Moneygall (Muine Gall in Irish) is a small town in County Offaly, Ireland, on the N7 route between Dublin and Limerick, on the County Tipperary/Offaly border. While the village is located in County Offaly the Gaelic Athletic Association playing field is located in County Tipperary. It has a population of approximately 300 people. Moneygall has a Roman Catholic church, five shops, a post office, a national school, a Garda Síochána station and two pubs.[1]
It has been reported that Democratic US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama's great great great great grandfather, Fulmuth Kearney emigrated from Moneygall to New York aged 19 in 1850.[2] Kearney's father had been the village shoemaker, then a wealthy skilled trade.
