All I can say is that I went and it was freakin' crazy. I nearly died of heat stroke! 500,000 people attended and I ran into nine people I know from a town of 40,000 lol! Fr0 04:29, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Since this is only one of several names (and frankly, one I hadn't heard until I got here), perhaps we should put this concert under its official name.

FWIW:

  • "Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto" turned up 1,610 hits;
  • "Toronto Rocks" turned up 864 (but it seems to be a lacrosse team as well);
  • "Rolling Stones SARS Benefit Concert" turns up 125 (most of them straight descriptions; "the Rolling Stones' SARS benefit concert in Toronto will, etc...")
  • "SARSfest" turned up 98;
  • "SARSstock" turned up 32 (!);
  • "SARStock" turned up 8.

If no objections, I'll move the page.

That's alright...I didn't realize it had an official name until today. I'm sure it must have been mentioned in all those newspaper articles in the past month, but I guess I missed it...sorry :) Adam Bishop 20:50, 31 Jul 2003 (UTC)

BTW, as far as I know, it was not the Stones' idea. It was the idea of someone in the Canadian government. dave 02:09, 1 Aug 2003 (UTC)

But wasn't it the Stones' idea to have a really massive concert, with a bunch of other bands? Adam Bishop 04:01, 1 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Maybe, I'm not really sure. I just know the initial idea was sparked by someone in parliment or senate. dave 05:21, 1 Aug 2003 (UTC)
I understand that it was the stones idea to call a lot of the other bands. Timberlake, though, was already in Toronto for some concerts of his own. Soch 06:25, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Setlist

Can we create a setlist for this show, just like the Live 8 shows? --Madchester July 8, 2005 03:34 (UTC)

[edit] Water

In the article it says that there was free water distributed to the crowd, this was not the case. As far as I know, free water was available only to the people near the very front of the crowd, everyone else had to five (5) dollars a bottle. Mayhap we should change this??? Iansmcl 03:59, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Nope, when we went in the gates they had a transport full of water they were tossing out tonnes of bottled water, free. However when you got inside the event, they were selling it. I personally bought a case (split with a friend) of twenty-four for FIFTY dollars! I almost died of heat exhaustion. $25.00 wasn't much of a factor at that point. Fr0 08:29, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Nope they threw it out everywere, infact My friends helped hand it out.

I was selling the water inside for 5 bucks a bottle (500mL). I made a killing that day. Thanks suckers! I hope Toronto gets anoter SARS atack so I can make more easy cash. SC.

Never got any free water where I was...

I was there. They were handing out free bottles of water all day from a truck parked centre stage but waaay back. Limit of 2 bottles. The line wasn't too long so we made a couple of trips each throughout the day -- is was so damn hot. I don't doubt people like SC were reselling and making some dough. GW

I was up near the front, maybe 4 people back, and we got free water, popsicles, and sandwhiches because it was actually inpossible to move. they also soaked us with a hose every once in a while.

[edit] Date of release

Hi, sorry I missed it. 4 years later i'm just categorizing films. The DVD circulated in 2004, but I find July 30 2003 as first release. Was it aired live in TV? I'm assigning category 2003 films as per imdb and assuming it went live. Hoverfish Talk 17:27, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

It was definitely played on Much Music, and the DvD was sold. I remember that part too. I'll look for more information when I get home, and if I remember. ;) Fr0 10:12, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Food/drink Vendors

Ok, I remember Pizza Pizza, and Adam's Rib (my god, my friends would NOT shut up about them) and some ice cream vendors. Would getting some names be worth mentioning or no? Also, I found this tidbit for citation; http://www.adamsrib.ca/adamsrib/history/index.htm Fr0 10:14, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
