Moinuddin

The Persian or Urdu word Moinuddin (معین الدین) derives from the Arabic phrase Mu`īn al-Dīn (معين الدين), and is often translated as "Defender of the Religion" (the literal meaning of the Arabic words would be "helper of the religion"). This is not to be confused with a similar-sounding word Mohiuddin (محی الدین), meaning "Reviver of Religion".

Also written as Moinudeen, the last syllable in the expression is from the Arabic word for "religion" (deen). This expression is often used as a title given to Islamic figures whom are revered as great contributors to different fields within the religion Islam.
