[edit] Notability

I don't profess to be an expert on MogileFS, but I'd contest that it's notable enough to stay. The fact that it was developed internally at one place doesn't mean a lot -- these guys also created Memcached, which is quite notable (heck, it powers Wikipedia!). The article should be flagged as a stub, though. 71.233.188.110 (talk) 00:16, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Content

The content is pretty weak here. Someone who knows about MogileFS needs to add some real content, and take the knife to what is her already. I'd like to see something on the real architecture, rather than just "a database, some number of trackers, and some number of storage units." I will draw special attention to "It is different from a traditional filesystem in that the user has to access files via an API".. Um, a user always need to access files via an API, it just so happens that the command line tools and/or the GUI hides the specifics. Better to say that it is not intended to look like a local file system that you mount (as NFS does), but instead you need to write applications that work with the specific remote filesystem. In this way, it is actually very similar to The Amazon S3 filesystem and Hadoop's HDFS. SteveLoughran (talk) 09:43, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
