Great Articles need:
[edit] Consistency - con·sist·en·cy
1] Agreement, harmony, or compatibility, esp. correspondence or uniformity among the parts of a complex thing.
2] The condition of cohering or holding together and retaining form; solidity or firmness.
We got to follow «Wiki Consistency» from article to article, we got lot's of work!
[edit] Good Design
Wikipedia design is limited, lacks design flexibility, it should be like that, otherwise it would not be «encyclopedic» and folks may just go overboard, but in today’s over saturated world, good design stands out, even within current wikipedia standards, enhanced layouts can be achieved, you just have to experiment, and yes, good quality images do help, personal thoughts anyway! I do lack protocol-authoring tools knowledge, like making those boxes on top right, not that am i too thrilled about them either. I also do find those background «drop shadows» of images in Wikipedias Spanish and French articles quite annoying. I also hate italics, although we may have to use them here and there, they look bitmap, hard to read, lets use them sparingly
For a revised Wikipedia design, check: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Usability/Main Page
I find the Wikipedia «older version» of Gold Coast Rapid Transit System layout design below left, sans frames in the large image quite interesting, and the "serif" type fonts used quite refreshing, though readability may have lacked slightly being a digital format |
