Moe drawing (萌え絵, moe-e^?) is a technique often used for (but not limited to) drawing bishōjo, describing character illustrations of moe. It is very common in manga and anime.

Typical styling cues include:

Big eyes
Big pupil and Iris
Thin eye brows
Double eye lids
Short body figure
Slim limbs
Small simple nose
Flat face
Slim body frame

[edit] Eye characteristics

The transparent feel of the pupils and the star-like reflections in the eyes are often exaggerated, regardless of surrounding lighting. Sizes of pupils are also exaggerated.

Usually drawn in the scale of a child.

Moe CG styles vary greatly from cel-shading to "hybrid" CG (cross between soft and cel-shading) or very subtle coloring. They usually make a lot of use of dodge tools/functions, which make the picture look "shiny".

Moe CG usually relies greatly on the transparency control of computer graphics.

The typical moe character is not usually just about looks - they can also have a humorous side, for example the Ouran High School Host Club character Mitsukuni Haninozuka (埴之塚光邦 Haninozuka Mitsukuni) always carries a pink bunny toy but can wipe out a fleet of police with his bodyguard and friend Takashi Morinozuka (銛之塚崇 (モリ), Morinozuka Takashi (Mori)).
