Modernista! is an advertising agency based in Boston, Massachusetts, with offices in Detroit, Michigan and Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Founded by Lance Jensen and Gary Koepke in January, 2000,[1] the agency currently represents Hearts On Fire, General Motors' Hummer (won in 2000) and Cadillac (won in 2006),[2] TIAA-CREF,[3] Product Red, and Stop Handgun Violence. Modernista! has created campaigns for clients such as Napster, Gap, Anheuser-Busch, MTV,[4] and Converse.

[edit] History

Modernista was founded by Gary Koepke and Lance Jensen in January 2000, both from a marketing/advertising background, as a startup business.[5] In October of 2000, Modernista was appointed the advertising agency responsible for the Hummer brand[6] and remained associated with General Motors thereafter.[5]

The company was appointed as the Cadillac brand agency in 2006.[7] At that time, Modernista had a portfolio that included a number of prestigious brands.[7]

In March 2008, Modernista! gained some attention for a redesign of its own website, which now displayed the referring page (such as Google search results) all over again, but this time with a small navigation menu overlaid in the upper left corner. Other than basic information, the menu primarily directed visitors to information from other sites, including on Flickr and YouTube, so the effect could be described as going "siteless".[8]
