Talk:Mobile pedestal

[edit] Reasons against speedy deletion.

Only minutes after I created the article, it is marked for speedy deletion by another editor, apparently because it is too short and/or it has insufficient context.

I'm still somewhat new at this - especially new at knowing how to deal with any difference of opinion about an article - so perhaps I miss some of the subtler points of what is allowed and what is not. I'm not sure what (if any) particular size of article is the minimum that is acceptable - but I have seen plenty of articles that are shorter than this, which I think could still be useful, if they either refer to related articles or give a concise (albeit short) description of the item.

As for context - what kind of context should be provided? I have done a couple of other articles on storage items such as lockers and stationery cabinets, and the "Mobile pedestal" article is clearly related to that, although certainly it is shorter - after all, mobile pedestals are less complex items. If one of these articles on related items is unacceptable, then are all of them?

Relating to providing context: If I link the articles to each other, will that help? - or if I can find a more general article on storage items and place links there to the individual items, will that help? Or even place the content for the various articles together into one longer article I could create, called something like "Office storage equipment" or something of the sort? (The individual articles would still need to redirect to that, though.)

You imply that more content might remedy the situation. I'll see if I can find more facts, but that doesn't seem all that likely (I pretty much put all I know on the topic in the article to begin with), and it wouldn't be acceptable to try to pad things out just to make the article look longer.

It seems a bit hasty to me to propose deletion only minutes after the article was posted. Please respond before deleting it. M.J.E. (talk) 08:45, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
