Mob film

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mob films[1] are a subgenre of crime films. Many early mob films were known as film noir. They are about the world of organized crime. According to AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition), the second best movie ever made is The Godfather starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Al Pacino later starred in another famous mob film called Scarface. Scarface was also the title of a 1932 mob film directed by Howard Hawks, starring Paul Muni. The movie is loosely based on Al Capone, a notorious gangster during the 20's and 30's. A lot of other movies are based on Capone such as The Untouchables, Little Caesar, and The Public Enemy.
