MLS Golden Boot

The MLS Golden Boot (officially the Budweiser Golden Boot for sponsorship reasons) has been awarded since the 2005 season to the player who scores the most regular season goals in the Major League Soccer season. If two or more players are tied for the lead in goals, assists are used as a tie-breaker. The award replaced the MLS Scoring Champion Award that was awarded since the league's inception in 1996. The original award used a point system that counted goals as two points and assists as one point.
