The images that comprise Matthew Langley's photography are less a time capsule, but a platform of seeing what culturally we are losing or have lost - namely individuality, self expression, eccentricity, and the glamour of hope.

The second half of the twentieth century saw tremendous expansion in America, especially right after World War II. For numerous reasons, a large community of DIY inspired approaches of this expansion had failed by century's end. What is left is the subject of his work.

A technical note: these images are shot using a "toy camera" for the development of these artworks. tweaked colors, blurry edges, and inexact focusing are inherent in using a less precise tool.
