MKE is a weekly tabloid published in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by Journal Communications. While it is formatted like an alternative newsweekly, it is basically a secondary marketing vehicle for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, containing duplicate classified and display advertising which also appears in its parent newspaper.
In fall of 2007, MKE's marketing department made an agreement with the local branches of Starbucks to exclude all other local weeklies, such as the Shepherd Express, from being distributed in their stores. It then advertised itself as the "official weekly of Starbucks in Milwaukee."
