The Miyake clan (三宅氏 Miyake-shi?) was a Japanese clan which claimed descent from the famed Kamakura era warrior Kojima Takanori, evidently established by one of his sons during the 14th century. At the start of the Sengoku Period, the Miyake were enemies to the neighboring Matsudaira, but eventually became vassals of the Matsudaira in 1558, during Miyake Masasada's headship. After the ascendancy of Tokugawa Ieyasu, Masasada's son Yasusada received a 10,000 koku fief in Mikawa Province, and became a civil councilor by 1592. The Miyake remained daimyo for the rest of the Edo period.[1]
