He has illustrated the complete Book of Psalms with 150 powerful paintings. Richard Holloway said of the work "Michael Jessing's imaginative edition will add a new richness and colour to an ancient and enduring spiritual expression." While still in progress the illustrations have been exhibited in Edinburgh, Oxford, New York and elsewhere. Michael Jessing's exhibition of selections from this project will be exhibited at the York Minster Library, 31 March until 2 May 2008. These illustrations, as Susan Gillingham wrote in her recent book Psalms through the Centuries, "His psalm-like series of paintings, with geometric and curvilinear compositions and highly symbolic stryle, some of them based on dreams and others on ancient Near Eastern mythology, some with hints of pre-Raphaelite art, have now been published as Selections from The Book of Psalms (2007)." The exhibition is free and open to the public. For further information - www.m-jessing.supanet.com - Elizabeth Boag, Artist’s Representative. 01721 721466
