No references? There are way too many claims made (larger families? crops produced?) with no citations. --SameerKhan 06:07, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Do'nt worry. References need time and will be supplied gradually. -Vinay Jha 17:46, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Importance of Floods

The plains between the outermost Himalayan foothills and the Ganges are essentially a series of alluvial fans over which rivers emerging from the mountains wander, dropping most of their silt and gravel. They are very prone to flooding as rivers overflow their low banks and water spreads widely over the alluvial fans. The historic Mithila realm may coincide with these flood-prone zones.

Traditional Mithila culture is ambivalent about monsoon floods. Floods destroy houses, fields, and take lives, but they also water and enrich the soil, leading to excellent harvests. 76.80.9.100 20:40, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

The Ancient Coins of Videha

This coin was found in central Darbhanga district at village Devrām near Benipur in 1985 AD, but unfortunately people stole a large hoard of coins which had great historical significance. Six photographs have been preserved. These coins belonged to BCE 600-150. The coin linked here has an incomplete mark of a 16-petal lotus, which was perhaps the state insignia of one of the eight republics that made up Vrijji Confederation before the conquest by Magadha, because this coin lacks the insignia of Magadha. Some other coins from the same site, however, bear the insignia of Magadha -Vinay Jha, 20:18, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
